6 MO Robert Moglia visits

We were so delighted to have baby Robert, Mag, Sally and Dorothy over for dinner on Wednesday night.  Bertie had OAL events to attend, so she sent her delegation.  Robert was super cuddly, and happy.  He never cried, and only fussed when we attempted to put him in a stroller during dinner.  He preferred sitting closer to the action, in my lap.  I was happy to oblige.  Before dinner, we took a walk around our lawn, and after dinner we played on the quilt after dinner.  Sabrina and Samuel brought him some of their toys to play with, but I promised I'd locate some more going to be 1 YO toys for his next visit.

Here's some highlights (you can click on the pics for larger versions)...

I told Sabrina and Samuel that Robert would come back soon with Bertie to visit.  They could have been more enthusiastic...

We can't wait for Summer 2013, Moglia visit #2!!!

P.S. Robert has the most perfect hair you've ever seen.  It's so soft, and even, and has a cute natural little man style.  Amazing. :)

xoxo,
Sarah

Home Depot

Samuel's regularly been saying, 'We're not going to Home Depot today.'
To which I respond 'that's right, Samuel, we're staying here (or going to x place, etc., you get the idea...)

Tonight he answered me very matter of factly, 'ok, mama, maybe next time. Maybe next time we can go to Home Depot.'

Yup, ok Samuel... :)

Sabrina showed me in the car she can say yellow instead of lello and we instead of the/de. Now if we can just make it a habit we'll be all set for kindergarten!

Dindin time

Samuel: Ow ow that hurts that hurts!
Me: what is it? (He's been eating for a while.)
S: it hurts right there. (Points to side of pants. They are very snug and the button is poking him as they have adjustable waist.)
Me: oh, are your pants too tight?
(I undo them.)
S: ahhhh...(sigh) exclaims: I can take my pants off! Yay!!

I love that I can make him happy by unbuttoning his pants so he can eat more.
2 yo life is soooo ez. :)

Warren o'Brien has arrived!

And I want to cry with joy every time I think of him and Hanna and Jeff! We are all so happy. My favorite quote of Sam this week is 'Mooooooom, I asked you a question!!!'

Sabrina is a little sad about moving so we are talking about all the positives of the new house. Then she gets excited and seems all right.

Oh and the car the Easter Craigslist bunny brought? Might be a bad egg. :( going to try and get my $ back, but not feeling very hopeful...

Alas, Craigslist after countless purchases, you've let me down at last. Guess I'll be satisfied with the many years of successes, and let this one go.

Warren & the week in pictures. So cool that I got to spend Hanna's and Jeff's last night as a single couple with them celebrating Hanna's birthday! Bummed that I didn't win at Bingo though. Was counting on beginner's luck. ;)

How I found her...

We cooked pinto beans (with Kale - I don't forget my WFM lessons), pork roast, and cornbread.  After a full afternoon of playing with one of our faves, Mr. Jaden & his mom Bethany.  :) It had been way too long!

After the cooking bonanza, Miss was a little tired, but still managed to smile for me!

She waited until I sat down on the couch where she could lean on me to finally give in...

It's so special to cook with her now!  She's really a pro at measuring things carefully, pouring, and mixing.  Cooking is something we do without debating/arguing, but instead really smoothly.  I paused a moment once, looking at her busily stirring, then cleaning up a spill and I wondered at her little self.  Already so composed, so competent.  I'm delighted we can enjoy such a practical and fun activity together (now & in the future).

Yesterday, thinking hard about her next move.  The red bow got used 2x this weekend! :)

Her normal self...

Thursday impromtu movie night...
These 2 melt my heart all the time!  Little lemonheads...

Her front bottom teeth, the first teeth she ever got, are very wiggly.  Their larger and less cute replacements are already visible.  This really weirded me out, as I thought we had another year before this happened.  Guess this gal is determined to grow up faster than I want her too! ;)

And, whew, done!!!

We finished just now. 10:30-7:45 is quite a day! (That's not including shopping or Hanna's prep time, see below.) We loved the mandatory togetherness though- it has been YEARS since we had spent so much time together.

Total:
8 meat loaves,
2 chicken cacciatores
120 meatballs
12 honey marinated pork chops
2 big portion beef stroganoffs
4 portions apricot chicken tenders
4 portions chicken tortilla soup
1.5 chicken Leilani casseroles for each of us (a biggun and a mini)
7 chicken pot pies

Cooks' notes:
Hanna prepped and bought most of the veggies yesterday which was a HUGE help.
Next time I'll try and cook/pull/chop/or shred chicken the night before.
Hanna's going to bring her biggest crawfish boil style pots.
We think we could work in a 3rd cook if we pre-plan jobs/roles.
Meatballs first next time for flash freezing purposes.
Plan on 2 coolers worth of food per cook.

A great day and tons of food to eat! Yahoooooo!!! :)

Oh, and next time an apron would be a good idea.... ;)

Meanwhile in Mississippi...

Miss these guys!
